Transformative Daily Reflection: 21 Days of Positivity! I am excited to share a powerful new activity that encourages students to focus on the positive aspects of their lives! Each day, students will reflect on four things that are good in their lives and one moment of happiness from the current day. You would be amazed at how challenging this simple task can be for children! Why This Activity is a Game Changer: Daily Positivity: By engaging in this reflection every day for 21 days, students will develop the habit of identifying and appreciating the positive and happy moments in their lives. This practice can truly transform their outlook and enhance their overall well-being. Meaningful Conversations: This activity also creates a wonderful opportunity for both teachers and students to come together each day to discuss what makes them feel good and what went well. These discussions can foster a supportive and nurturing classroom environment where everyone feels valued and heard. Perfect Afternoon Activity: I recommend implementing this activity as an afternoon reflection. It serves as a calming and uplifting way to wrap up the day, allowing students to transition into their next activities with a positive mindset. Let’s Cultivate a Culture of Positivity! By encouraging students to focus on the good in their lives, we can help them build resilience and a positive self-image. I have developed a series of termly Year 3 Maths assessments based on the Wigan maths assessments. I have created both Youtube videos and PowerPoints around these tests. There are two different Year 3 Maths assessments. In the first you ask a question and everyone answers it and then you have a choice of two different assessments. In the first, the answer appears after the question and this one is useful if you are using a Block 1 Year 3 assessment as a revision tool as everyone can discuss how they found their answer. They can also use it to see how well they are doing during their termly Year 3 assessment. The second type is the traditional ask all the questions first, swap papers and check each of the answers which is all great and has its own merits. I hope you like this new approach to teaching maths in the classroom as I do plan to make a lot more lessons which are similar to this in the future.

Year 6 Block 2 Wigan Maths Assessment Using YouTube and PowerPoint Presentations I am now converting all my PowerPoint presentations into YouTube videos PowerPoint Combos. This means teachers can teach the lesson using either the PowerPoint or Youtube version of the lesson and then share the YouTube lesson with their students’ parents. This lesson can then be repeated at home as additional homework. I have always used the Wigan Maths Tests to prepare the students for their final exams. However, I wanted to improve it, so that I could ask a question and discuss the answer directly on the whiteboard and so I rewrote the tests as PowerPoint presentations. The students could do it together in the classroom or take them home as additional revision.

Why is Mental Math Important? Mental math skills are crucial for young learners, especially in Year 2. Here are some key reasons why mental math is important: Foundation for Future Learning: Strong mental math skills provide a solid foundation for more complex mathematical concepts in later grades. It helps students develop a deeper understanding of numbers and operations. Improved Problem-Solving Skills: Mental math encourages students to think critically and develop problem-solving strategies. It teaches them to approach problems from different angles and find efficient solutions. Increased Confidence: As students become proficient in mental math, they gain confidence in their abilities. This confidence can positively impact their overall attitude towards math and learning in general. Real-World Application: Mental math is not just an academic skill; it’s a practical one. Students will use these skills in everyday situations, such as budgeting, shopping, and cooking. Enhanced Cognitive Skills: Engaging in mental math activities improves cognitive functions such as memory, attention, and concentration. These skills are beneficial across all subjects and areas of life. By incorporating mental math into the Year 2 Block 3 Termly Maths Assessments and utilizing the YouTube and PowerPoint Combo approach, we are setting our students up for success. Together, let’s empower our young learners with the skills they need to thrive in mathematics and beyond!

10 FREE Thanksgiving Poster For your classroom or assembly.

The Importance of Thanksgiving Posters in the Classroom As Thanksgiving approaches, I’ve been inspired to create and share 10 beautiful posters that celebrate the spirit of gratitude. While browsing through resources on TES, I noticed a lack of engaging materials that truly capture the essence of being thankful. This motivated me to design these posters, which can be a wonderful addition to your classroom decor. Why Use Thanksgiving Posters in the Classroom? Promoting a Culture of Gratitude: Thanksgiving posters serve as a powerful reminder to students about the importance of expressing gratitude. They encourage a culture of appreciation, helping students understand the value of being thankful for what they have. Visual Engagement: Colorful and thoughtfully designed posters can capture students’ attention and create a warm, festive atmosphere in the classroom. Visual aids enhance learning by providing context and stimulating discussion around the themes of Thanksgiving and gratitude. Inspiring Reflection: These posters can prompt meaningful conversations and reflections among students. They encourage learners to think about what they are thankful for and share their thoughts with their peers, fostering a sense of community. Versatile Teaching Tool: Beyond Thanksgiving, these posters are suitable for any lessons focused on gratitude, kindness, and respect. They can also be effectively used during harvest festivals or any time you want to teach about appreciation and community. Encouraging Positive Behavior: Displaying messages of gratitude can promote positive behavior within the classroom. When students see reminders of thankfulness, it can influence their interactions and encourage them to express appreciation towards their classmates and teachers. I kindly ask that if you enjoy these Thanksgiving posters, please click the little blue heart further down the page and follow me. This allows me to keep you updated on future sets of free topical posters. If you find value in these resources, leaving a lovely comment would mean the world to me—your feedback makes what I do worthwhile! Let’s celebrate gratitude together in our classrooms this Thanksgiving!

When I am revising maths, I like to ask a question and then the students answer it on their mini whiteboards. We then check the answer on the following slide. I have combined the test papers with the marking scheme, making teaching and learning a lot more fun. There is differentiated revision material. There are tests for levels 3 - 5, and tests for level 6, and some which are for all the students. All the students should try all the tests, to both consolidate and extend their learning to make sure they have the maximum chance of reaching their true potential. I have presented them in the different PowerPoint formats for the older and more modern computers. Did you know pairing a high achieving and less high achieving child together actually helps both? As the more advanced student explains how to solve a problem, they too improve their knowledge of mathematical vocabulary.

Phonics Screen Revision - 4 documents in one simple PowerPoint!

Getting ready for the summer Phonics test? Here are two Phonics revision tests from previous years. I have converted 4 documents into a simple to use PowerPoint. It starts off with practice words. These include both real and made up words. These help students to revise how to say the words and to prepare them for the test. This is followed by the practice test. There are 2 levels, a simple level and a trickier level, In each case there are real and made-up words. This is followed by recommendations on how to say each word. This is followed by the marking sheet. These PowerPoints are fun, colourful and an easy way to practice the words either with a whole class or one by one with the students. It is also an excellent way for parents to practice with their children at home. Make phonics testing fun... try this set of PowerPoints today!

Numeracy SATs Test Revision PowerPoints - Questions And Answers In Every Presentation.

I like to ask the class a question, give the class a certain amount of time to solve the question and then show me the answer on their mini whiteboards. I have taken the KS2 SATs numeracy question papers for the 2015 test and combined the question and answer booklets into a single presentation. This is a great way of teaching as there is an instant feedback and explanation as to how to solve each problem. This helps to challenge and consolidate the classes learning. This teaching resource could be used for whole class teaching and checking, or at home as a one to one resource with a tutor. These teaching resources make maths less stressful and so the students are more motivated to succeed! I have created resources for levels 3-5 and also separate resources for Level 6 students. All the students should attempt all the papers to both consolidate and strengthen their basic learning and also extend their skills to a higher level.

The original test papers can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/2016-key-stage-2-mathematics-sample-test-materials-mark-schemes-and-test-administration-instructions.
